I guess the Heller ruling really was only the beginning of a long fight. I have this fantasy where Scalia bitchslaps the mayor of DC and the PD over the bullshit known as the gun laws that registered gun owners must abide by. First, let me say I found it HILARIOUS (and then sickening, then angering, and then the rest of the five stages before deciding to go back to work) that I would not be able to legally register my firearm in DC because…get this…all bottom loading semi-autos are classified as…wait for it….wait…..omg here it is: MACHINE GUNS. that’s right, my little girl gun 9mm Sig P239 with its 7 stack mag is considered a machine gun in our nation’s capitol.
I decided to do some more research on the gun regs currently being imposed. I found out some shi*t that I can’t wait to throw in the face of the first pinko asshat I see bemoaning the repeal of DC’s anti 2A bullshit laws. Check this sh*t out:
according to the laws concerning gun registration in DC (from the DCPD website):
all registered guns must be kept in the home unloaded and either disassembled or with a trigger lock at all times
guns may only be loaded and fired in the home once the owner has determined that a reasonable threat exists.
oh, and did I mentiont that civilians aren’t allowed to carry?
Maybe I’m a f***ing dumbass, but I don’t see what the anti 2A side has to cry about here. I mean, restrictions on gun ownership wouldn’t have become mandate in the first place if guns weren’t, oh, I dunno, dangerous, right? these laws make registered firearms about as useful as harsh language when it comes to home defense. A shotgun would probably be better used to bash an intruder on the head, and in that sense, a trust 12 gauge is more like baseball bat than a firearm. Uh, oh! better not tell those geniuses that baseball bats and common household hammers can be used to apply lethal force, because it might then be put into law that these things need to be kept locked away as well.
woops, I totally forgot to mention knives! Did you know knives can be just as, and in some cases, more deadly than guns? better not let that little tid bit slip either, they might try taking our knife-rights away! Think its funny? that’s exactly what Brittain is trying to do. Go figure: knife crime in london has sky rocketed since the outlawing of guns. Take away knives, and I bet they’ll see an increase in shanking and glassing incidents.
The whole point of using deadly force for home defense is having the ability to protect yourself and loved ones from baddies if they invade your home. What’s this nonsense about “reasonable threats”. I think a person who breaks into my house constitutes a reasonable threat. What, are people supposed to wait until they can get a good moral reading on their invaders? A person who breaks and enters is already a criminal, and once inside, they’re probably not going to ask for some milk and cookies. What are the poor bastards in DC supposed to do?
“Excuse me, mr. invader-man, but you don’t seem like a nice well-intended kind a guy. Sit tight for a moment, will you, I need to go assemble and load my rifle.”
*smacks self in forhead*
Self-defense 101: don’t be a good victim. Just my oppinion here, but a person who breaks and enters doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt. Actions need to be taken quickly, as there is little time to evaluate whether the attacker or invader *is going to or might* present a physical danger. for all you know, they have a gun, and seeing as they’re already of a criminal mindset, chances are they won’t go through a considerable thought process before pointing the buisness end of that weapon in your direction and pulling the trigger. So, if it’s me or them getting shot, I’d sure as hell like to do all in my power to see to it that it isn’t going to me (hearts texas). I think only a buddhist monk would argue that the life a home invader with a weapon and criminal intent is worth as much as my life. I can’t help but imagine that criminals would think twice before breaking and entering if they believed there was a muzzle waiting on the other side of the door.
sorry for the lack of decent use of capitalization/grammar/spelling/structure. I’m trying to finish research for my thesis by the end of the week and my head feels about 3 sizes too small.
