{August 2, 2008}   The weekly yays and nays

I’m going to try to do this every week, for the simple sake of rounding up and restating unpleasantries as briefly as possible, and then trying to outweigh them with better, happier tidbits. I, for one, feel that we could all use some better news, and I spend too much time sulking and bitching and being depressed about the state of the world.

Nays :(

1. Kim du Toit announces the imminent retirement of his other side.

2. No more Manny on the Sox, even though it was probably a long time coming.

Yays :)

1. An Alzheimers treatment starts to look promising!

2. Jacoby Ellsbury. Thank you, and good night.

{August 1, 2008}   Mooching in the USA

This story was posted on the NPR website. It features an Ohio family in which an entire generation has not held a job, and a second generation is “trying to find work”. That’s right: 2 generations on welfare. See what I mean about our children learning from our values and actions? Anyways, this article goes on to describe how the food crisis is hitting this family particularly hard.

Go on. Clicka da linky. Take a look at these two.

Do these look like people who are going hungry?

Here’s what I’m afraid of happening in this country.

Ok, I’ve reached my insensitivity quota for the week.

{July 30, 2008}   Brighten your day!

Finally, a news report that will leave you glowing!

;)

Ahhhhh, I needed that. Was it good for you too?
